How Do Pellets Fit into My Rabbit’s Diet?

Adding hay pellets to your small pet's daily diet is a fantastic way to enhance their overall well-being and health. These pellets provide a balanced and concentrated supply of nutrients, such as fiber, vitamins, and minerals, that are essential for your pet's growth and vitality. They support digestive health, encourage natural chewing behavior to prevent potential dental problems, and assist in maintaining an ideal weight.

Additionally, the ease of using pellets makes them a practical and clean addition to your pet's daily nutrition.

Alfalfa Pellets

Whether you have young or older rabbits, guinea pigs, or chinchillas, alfalfa pellets are a great addition to their daily hay intake.

Alfalfa pellets are high in protein, fiber, and contain essential nutrients for your small pets. They promote digestive health and assist with weight management, making them suitable for both young and older small pets.

  • Young rabbits from 7 weeks to 7 months old can be fed unlimited amounts of Alfalfa Pellets while they grow.

  • After 7 months, transition them to an 80% hay diet, with pellets given in moderation as treats.

Timothy Pellets

Timothy pellets provide your pets with pure, wholesome nutrition. They are rich in fiber, promoting excellent digestive health for your small pets. They can also help keep your pets healthy and well-nourished by increasing their regular hay intake or as an everyday healthy treat.

  • Timothy pellets are perfect for rabbits older than 7 months, guinea pigs older than 6 months, and chinchillas older than a year.

Important Note for Guinea Pigs on Hay Pellets

Guinea pigs, like humans, do not produce their own Vitamin C and require it in their daily diet. Our Alfalfa and timothy pellets, while exceptional in many ways, do not contain Vitamin C. To ensure your guinea pigs stay healthy, consult your vet to determine their Vitamin C needs and supplement accordingly.

Feeding Recommendations

To help you provide the best care for your small pet, we offer a recommended daily feeding chart based on your pet's age and weight. It's essential to tailor your pet's diet to their specific needs, so please consult your vet for personalized recommendations.

Transitioning to New Pellets

If you're transitioning your small pet to a new pellet, start by blending approximately 25% of the new pellets with their old pellets and gradually increase over 1-2 weeks.

Storage

Store your small pet's pellets in a cool, dark place free from moisture. Sunlight can affect the color and nutrient content of the pellets, while moisture can lead to fungus, mold, and bacteria, posing risks to both your pet and you.
