Rabbits can reach sexual maturity at around 4 months old! The male rabbits can mate at an average of 5-7 times a day. Female rabbits are more picky about when they will allow mating when they are in heat.

Most rabbits should be spayed/neutered the second they are old enough. For female rabbits the age is around 5-6 months old. For male rabbits, it’s normally around 3-5 months old. There is a point in a rabbit’s life where it is not safe for them to undergo surgery because they are more prone to certain risks involved.
Make sure that you find a vet that has experience in rabbit care and will give your little bun the attention and service that they deserve! Don’t be afraid to ask the vet how many times they have performed the procedure on rabbits. It is perfectly acceptable for you to call several vets or call your local rabbit shelter to see who they would suggest.
